Akua Naru

Ihr aktuelles Projekt mit dem Titel “all about love: new visions”, eine gemeinsame LP mit ihrer eigenen Band und dem renommierten Streichorchester Ensemble Resonanz, soll im Frühjahr 2024 veröffentlicht werden. Sie ist bekannt für elektrisierende Auftritte und hat mit ihrer 6-köpfigen Band Shows in mehr als fünfzig Ländern auf fünf Kontinenten gespielt. Ihr künstlerisches Schaffen ist ein Zeugnis für das Erbe der Soul-Musik und die kraftvolle, bahnbrechende Tradition der schwarzen Künstlerinnen, auf denen diese Tradition aufbaut.

akua narus neuestes Werk ist ein Album mit dem Titel “all about love: new visions”, inspiriert von und eine Ode an die schwarze feministische Ikone Bell Hooks und ihren gleichnamigen Klassiker, in dem Hooks die Gesellschaft und ihre Ideale der Liebe untersucht. Besonders in diesen Zeiten, ist das Narus neue Vision für ihre Liebeslieder: live aufgenommen und begleitet von dem Ensemble Resonanz.

Dieses Album soll den Hörer*innen einen klanglichen Balsam bieten. Ein notwendiges, emotional-akustisches Hörerlebnis für alle, welche die stärkende Kraft der Liebe und ihre Dringlichkeit verstehen in diesen dunklen und gefahrvollen Zeiten.

Naru has worked with Tony Allen, Eric Benét, Angelique Kidjo, Tuneyards, Questlove, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Christian Scott, Rah Digga, Mulatu Astatke, Bernard Purdie, Cody ChesnuTT, and more. Known for electrifying performances spanning across continents, she has rocked shows in more than fifty countries across five continents with her 6-piece band. Her artistry is a testament to the legacy of soul music and the powerful, trailblazing Black woman artist tradition upon which it builds.

akua naru's latest feat is an album entitled, "all about love: new visions", inspired by and an ode to Black feminist icon bell hooks and her titanic classic text of the same name, in which hooks examines society and its ideals of love. To honor and take up hooks' understanding of "love as a practice of freedom", especially in these times, naru's forthcoming offering is a new vision for her love songs: recorded live by a large band ensemble supported by the
highly decorated classical orchestra, Ensemble Resonanz.

This album intends to provide a sonic balm to listeners. A necessary emotional-audio experience for those who understand the fortifying power of love and its urgency, especially during dark and perilous times.
